Cairo and Petra Tour Packages



DAY 1: Arrival Cairo, Egypt.Arrival at Cairo airport. After you clear customs and collect your luggage, our representative will meet you and assist with the transfer to your hotel. Check in and overnight at hotel in Cairo.
DAY 2: Giza Sightseeing Tour.This morning we drive to the Giza Plateau, home of Egypt's signature attractions: the Great Pyramids, proclaimed by the Greeks to be among the Seven Wonders of the ancient world. We visit the great Pyramids of Giza and their guardian Sphinx, Memphis-first capital of the ancient kingdom to see the statue of Ramses II then to Sakkara to see the Step pyramid.
Optional - After dinner on your own, return to Giza for a spectacular Sound & Light show. Nothing compares to seeing the Pyramids and the Sphinx illuminated at night; the visual effects as well as dramatic commentary make for an unforgettable evening. Overnight at our hotel in Cairo.
DAY 3: Friday CAIRO - ASWAN - ABU SIMBEL.
Morning transfer to Cairo Airport for our flight to Aswan. On arrival in Aswan; Optional - connect with flight to Abu Simbel for half day sight seeing and flight back to Aswan. Then we will be escorted to embark on the Nile cruise ship-our floating hotel for the next five days. After lunch, we sail by 'felucca' a traditional Nile sailing boat, to view Kitcheners Island and the Agha Khan Mausoleum. Overnight in Aswan. Optional - Sound & light show in Philae temple.
DAY 4: Saturday KOMOMBO - EDFU.Today we visit the impressive Aswan High Dam and its huge lake, and the Temple of Philae. Then we cruise to Kom Ombo to visit the Temple shared by the Gods Sobek & Haroeris. Dinner and Overnight onboard in Edfu.
DAY 5: Sunday ESNA - LUXOR.
This morning we explore the Temple of Horus, the falcon god. Then we sail to Esna and continue sailing to Luxor. Overnight in Luxor. Optional - Sound & light show in Karnak temple.
DAY 6: Monday LUXOR.Optional - Hot air ballooning over the valley at the Sunrise. Today we check out after breakfast and then we explore the wondrous Valley of the Kings, Hatshepsut's Temple, and the Colossi of Memnon. This afternoon we visit Karnak Temple and Luxor Temple. At the end of the day we are transferred to the train station to catch our overnight train to Cairo.
DAY 7: Tuesday CAIRO.
This morning we visit the Egyptian Museum the world-renowned Museum of Egyptian Antiquities. Accompanied by your certified Egyptologist, you'll stroll through the halls highlighting each historical period of this ancient land. Spend the evening at leisure on your own in Cairo or ; Optional - Afternoon take half day tours visiting not-to-be-missed the Khan Al-Khalili bazaar, abuzz with activity and offering a priceless perspective on Cairo's oriental character OR discover Cairo's churches & synagogues by taking the old Cairo Coptic half a day tour. Overnight at our hotel.
DAY 8: Wednesday CAIRO - AMMAN.Transfer from the hotel to Cairo airport for final departure. (Or optional extra day in Cairo with sightseeing)
Meet at Queen Alia International Airport and assistance with Jordanian immigration and customs formalities or join this tour in Amman. Drive to Jerash, the best-preserved city of Roman times, to visit its theaters, temples, churches and colonnaded streets. Then continue to Ajloun to tour the 12th century Saracen Castle built by one of Saladin's lieutenants in the campaign against the Crusaders. Overnight in Amman.
DAY 9: Thursday PETRA.Drive southwards along the Kings' Way to Petra, visiting Madaba with the oldest map of the Holy Land, and its Mosaic School, Mt. Nebo and the alleged burial site of Moses overlooking the Dead Sea and the Jordan Valley; then drive through the magnificent scenery of Wadi Mujib to Kerak to visit the Crusader Castle (stop for optional lunch). Overnight in Petra.
DAY 10: Friday PETRA.
A full day to visit the many sites of Petra, this city that was carved into the rose-red Sharah Mountains by the Nabateans and lost to Civilization until re-discovered by the Swiss Burkhardt. Walk through the Siq, a narrow and winding fissure between the cliffs, to reach the Treasury, the Roman Theater, the Courts, Qasr Bint Pharaoun, Temple of the Winged Lion and other monuments. A break for optional lunch, or you may wish to climb up to the Monastery. Overnight in Petra.
DAY 11: Saturday PETRA - WADI RUM - AMMAN.Visit the Wadi Rum Desert (a short ride in 4x4 vehicle) with its awesome moon-like landscape, where the film "Lawrence of Arabia" was shot. Continue to the Araba Crossing and assistance with departure formalities, or to Aqaba for a day or two at the Beach (please see "Optional Services"). Drop-off is also possible in Amman with no surcharge.
